Mark Flynn was born in McAuley, Manitoba on January 11, 1930 and moved to Winnipeg during his youth. Flynn was a third baseman and consistent hitter with good power. He played for the Elmwood Giants juveniles (1947-48), the Elmwood Giants juniors (1949-51), St. James Legion (1952-53), St. Charles of the Intermediate League (1954-55), and the Canadian Ukrainian Athletics Club Blues of the Winnipeg Senior League (1955-57). Flynn was also an integral part of the Fort Whyte tournament teams from 1954-60. He was president of the Assiniboine Minor Baseball Association from 1961-67 and was also deeply involved in lacrosse, hockey, and horse racing.
